We’re proud to have played a role in the transformation of the Ada Hotel, a new boutique destination in downtown Ada, Michigan. Melding contemporary luxury with the charm of its 19th-century roots, the hotel is a stunning project, and we’re thrilled to have contributed our custom metalwork throughout its spaces. From the hotel rooms to the common areas, EA Craftworks added distinct, artisan-crafted elements that enhance the hotel’s design and atmosphere.
Blackened Steel – Strength Meets Style
A standout feature of our work is the extensive use of blackened steel, found throughout the hotel. The most striking application is in The Post Tavern, where long, arched beams span the room. These arches, suspended from brick crossbeams, give a sense of industrial strength while complimenting the warm, wood-trimmed dining area. The contrast between rustic steel and refined interior elements creates a perfect balance of durability and elegance, making a bold yet tasteful statement.
The custom planters in the lobby posed an exciting challenge for our team. Their size and need for seamless integration with the room’s architectural components made them a complex yet rewarding task. Once completed, we were excited with how they completed the space, subtly sectioning off the open-concept lobby while maintaining visual flow.
Brasswork – An Elegant Touch
Perhaps the highlight of our contribution is the intricate brasswork. There is no ignoring the gleam of the polished brass accents in each of the hotel’s guest rooms. They bring points of charm even to the restrooms. Contrasted against the marble elements, the brass is warm and, together with the marble, is nothing short of classic elegance. The “S”-shaped hanger bars, with their soft curves, provide a contrast to the clean lines of the millwork, adding both style and function. Similarly, the brass shelving integrates seamlessly with the stonework in the coffee nooks, creating a balanced interplay between light and material.
Architectural Details Worth a Closer Look
Unless we are talking about the Sistine Chapel, the ceilings in most buildings are probably not garnering too much attention. The ceilings at the Ada Hotel, however, are a showcase of craftsmanship that deserve a second glance if you haven’t yet had a first look. While the topographical map of Ada adorning the lobby is a stunning feature in itself, we especially take great pride in the ceilings of The Post Tavern. With over 120 custom metal panels and intricately designed caps embellishing the stately wood beams, our metalwork enhances the sophistication and character of this inviting space.
